When designing the app, it became important to keep the interface fun to use, and also approach the design from a functional point of view centered around using the app as a controller for firing fireworks.. For the home screen, I chose to use four large buttons creating a controller-like interface. The four main functions of the app are broken down below.
Onboarding: This is the onboarding tutorial shown to users to gain a better understanding of functionality.
An easy to navigate library of fireworks with the ability to add your own. IGNITE is the only industry leading app with a database of fireworks current in today’s marketplace.
The Modules section is used to pair your module using bluetooth. Up to 8 modules can be added at a time. Color was used to distinguish each module, with each module lighting up it’s LED accordingly upon pairing and usage.
The Freeshoot function allows users to fire each firework independently. This was the initial concept used to design the firing aspect. This was ultimately decided against, and instead we chose the second interface below. This solution proved to be better for the ability to both display firework names and cues (showing which have been fired, which are pending) - while counting down, showing connectivity, and allowing users to switch modules by tapping the module icon at the top left.
The website (pending imagery) was designed to once again reflect a bold, simple and modern brand.
